Rev. James Arthur Adix, former Pastor of Grace Lutheran Church in Eau Claire (1970-1975) passed away at his home in Marion, Iowa on August 4, 2017. He was 79 years old. Visitation will be at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Cedar Rapids, IA, Friday, August 18, 2017, from 4-7 pm. A funeral service will be held at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Strawberry Point, IA, Saturday, August 19, 2017, at 11:00 AM with burial at Oakwood Cemetery, Monticello, Iowa.
Jim was born May 1, 1938 in Monticello, Iowa. He was the eldest son of Arthur Carl and Clara Louise (Schoon) Adix. He was valedictorian at Aurora High School ‘56, Aurora, IA graduated from Wartburg College ‘60, Waverly, Iowa, and Wartburg Theological Seminary ‘63, Dubuque, Iowa. He was ordained in 1964 by the American Lutheran church and served as a Lutheran Pastor with several congregations in the Midwest for over 50 years. He also was a member of the Wartburg Seminary faculty as Professor of Contextual Education and Director of Internship.
Pastor Adix is survived by his wife, Marcia (Heggen) Adix, three children: David (Renee Parenteau) Adix, Menomonie, WI, Anne (John) Fabie, St Paul, MN, Mike Adix, Parishville, NY, and two step children: Jackie Wierimaa, Chicago, IL and Nicole (Andy) McRoberts, Marion, IA. He is also survived by five grandchildren: Sara (Mike) Cassidy, Michael and Noah Fabie, Matthew and Andrew Adix, two step grandchildren, Amelia and Josephine McRoberts and by his brother Richard (Kathy) Adix, Brookfield, WI, his former wife, Sue (Schwab) Alt, nephew Jeff (Karrie) Adix and niece Laurie (Nick) Lochner.
Father, grandfather, husband and Pastor was much loved and will be greatly missed.
