Richard “Dick” Stenger Feller, age 73, passed away peacefully the morning of May 16, 2017, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
Born on April 29, 1944, Dick enjoyed life to the fullest throughout his 73 years. Upon graduating from Roanoke College as Class President, he joined the United States Marine Corps — an honor to which he was “always faithful.” He started his career with Marriott in 1968, where he worked his way up through management to become General Manager for hotels across the country. His career spanned over 24 years, throughout which time he traveled across the globe teaching courses, opening hotels and making relationships both personally and professionally that would last a lifetime.
Upon retirement in 1992, he and his wife moved to Eau Claire, where they opened the doors to Silvermine Farm. Silvermine has grown into a prestigious, well-known dressage barn thanks to the talent of Dick’s wife and his strong business knowledge and background. Though he loved many things, Dick taught each of us that a new friend can be found wherever you are, to enjoy the small moments in life, and to never let others tell you when to give up (especially if you disagree).
His spirit and love for life continues on through his beloved wife of 25 years, Andrea “Andy” Feller; his daughters, Shannon (Barrett) Smith and Cameron (Jason) Duke; his sons, Richard and David Feller; his grandson, Crosby Smith; his sister, Nancy Starnes; his dogs, Maggie and Sadie; and countless friends made across the world. He has gone to rest peacefully with his father and mother, Richard Tabler Feller and Wilma Gertrude (Stenger) Feller.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials in Dick’s memory be directed to Carroll’s Friendship Farm, 8765 150th St, Chippewa Falls, WI 54729.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 20, 2017, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 322 Fulton St, Eau Claire, with Father Bill Dhein officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at the church.
